Ok, J--, you can pretty much understand French when it's spoken at you and at the same time written on a blackboard. Now, how about we try this: You go run around this room a couple of times, then grapple with this guy (who's just a little bigger than you), and then try talking to him about what you're supposed to do. We call it French by Exhaustion. And real French people are just fine with it. What's that? You don't speak out-of-breath French? Well, I guess you aren't that good at it, then, are you?
That was Judo just now. And it was fun, even though trying to talk to people . . . Well, when I can converse and be tired at the same time, I'll know I've gone to the next level of speaking.
