Honeymoon days 8 and 9: hikes and sweets

Today and yesterday, we rested from skiing. In fact, yesterday we pretty much slept all day. I think the jet lag is still in effect.

We discovered this wonderful pastry shop full of all sorts of candy. My favorites are the meringue mushrooms dusted with cocoa. We got so so many and they were so very cheep. I wish we could stay here longer just to have pastries every day.

There's also a shop that sells fresh pasta. It's called a pasta laboratory, and the woman who works there reminds me of a strict doctor. You tell her what you want, and how many people you have, and she sternly prescribes the correct pasta weight. One day we got heart shaped ravioli with cooked prosciutto and ricotta, along with small meat ravioli. Another day, we got spinach tagliatelle, with genoan pesto made in house. It was the most delicious thing! The pesto day, we also went to the butcher shop and got flower shaped chicken burgers. The were beautiful and delicious.

We also hiked in the mountains around town. The town were in is in a triangular valley, so there are three directions to go in order to reach the neighboring towns. We've now seen all of them.

We hiked quite a lot today, especially. We went up the hill to a cute town that looks down on ours. It has a minor ski slope and lift, and we kept running into the one ski slope as we hiked around. Eventually, we decided to just cross the slope. Unfortunately, there was a huge ice patch right where we wanted to cross, so it was kinda tricky. And then we wound up in the woods without a path. It was a good wood, though, with a nice pine needle floor and hardly any undergrowth. And we soon found our way, and were back on the road to town.

Back home, we found a nice sweet shop where we drank some much deserved drinking chocolate with whipped cream, that we were served with slices of panettone. The chocolate was so good, actually, that we got a couple of their house made chocolates to take home.

The sweet shops in this area are some sort of national treasure.

Finally, on our way home, we picked up some local circle shaped rye bread.

Dinner tonight is at a fancy looking restaurant that shoots off of a wine shop.
