Bathtub biking

Winter's finally here! That means it's the rainy season, and today's the first big rain day. It was also my first try at biking in the rain. I wore gym shorts, hiking boots, my waterproof trenchcoat, and a silly plastic granny-bonnet left over from hiking in Utah this summer. My computer, notebook of aaalll the math, and scarf wore three plastic grocery bags, and rode in my backpack. I let my cell phone and wallet ride in my trench pocket, since it was waterproof. Oh, and I wore sunglasses like windshields.

It turns out that a waterproof jacket is not the same as a torrent-proof one. It rained and it gusted. Drops fell from the trees like angry crows, overwhelming my sunglasses. Water slid down my legs and into my shoes.

I'm sitting barefoot in my office next to a puddle of water. Luckily, my computer's waterproof jacket worked better than mine. Mine's entirely soaked through. My backpack protected my back with its last breath. I had to pour quite a bit of water out of him. He's recuperating.

Well, I guess the elements won today. That's why it's going to be hippie day. I'll walk around barefoot, and let my hair form strange water-dreads.

All in all, despite the lack of visibility, and plentitude of cars, it was quite an enjoyable, um, immersive experience!
