Re: Maggots
It turns out that the jumping, writhing maggots from our beach hike weren't maggots at all. They are called beach hoppers, which are a kind of crustacean. They're related to shrimp. When you look at a picture of one up close, it's actually cute, with its oversized eyes and cuddly antennae.
I want to feel bad about being grossed out by them on our trip. But then I remember how they swarmed around the seaweed where we were walking, and how I had to do the maggot dance to get them our of my shoes. Then I don't feel bad any more.
