Linux
Just a random thought brought on by the fact that C- recently got a Windows 8 machine, and I've been running Linux for a couple of months now. Linux is so nice. I turn on my computer, and it just . . . turns on. This takes maybe a minute. It doesn't spend an hour loading useless "apps" or configuring something or other. Ok, to be fair, Windows only took 20 minutes to load this morning. Apologies. I don't have to click on anything to get my sign-in screen. It just appears. When I log in, it goes online right away, rather than loading a bunch of useless crap first. And then, the best part is, that it doesn't turn off, randomly, right when I'm doing something (like when I'm in the middle of a super-important cat video, for instance.) That's because it doesn't download or install updates unless I ask it to. And it doesn't reboot until I reboot it. Oh! and turning off the computer isn't a "setting" that's hidden behind three button clicks. What an amazing os . . .
Right. End of frustrated rant.
