Now, all we have to do is relax. We are in Cork, Ireland. There is snow and cold all over the place. We barely flew in to Dublin in time before the airport closed because of it, and we barely drove down to Cork in time before a new wave of snow hit. Now we are safely closed in on all sides by snow, and have to do nothing but rest, have tea, and maybe go to a pub in the evening.
We are staying for the moment at a lovely Bed and Breakfast that serves Traditional Irish Breakfast including black and white pudding and as much tea with milk and toast as you want. The beds have thick warm comforters. There are nice paintings on all the walls and beautiful Victorian-style furniture.
Cork has the English Market. They sell delicious apples, sweet and crisp, and all the better for the cold. They sell fresh meat: kangaroo and alligator as well as chicken, duck, and "Goose for a traditional Christmas". There was a wool shop with lots of tempting yarns, but I restrained myself.
The fowl is all free-range. In fact, the eggs we get with breakfast are from free-range hens (they taste better because of it, and the yolks are a brighter orange color.) The sugar and coffee at the cafe we had lunch at were fair trade. And most of the shops sell locally made stuff, from food to clothing. This place is nice.
