Movie and plants

I saw WALL-E today. Yay! Although I read too many reviews beforehand, so it's kinda like I watched it too many times. Sorta like eating too much. But it was a really good movie. And the short was hilarious. So, yay!

And my parents are home, again, so I'm no longer a mother! Also, yay! Although it seems I'll still have to cook and drive kids around still. Driving would be good, but the minivan can't accelerate properly so after every light I have to drudge through 30 mph for ever and ever . . .

I've noticed something about the vegetation here. First of all, we have vegetation here, as opposed to sensible things like trees and grass and lawns that we had in Chicago. Granted things in Chicago were a bit gray and here things are GREEN. But, trees in Chicago had tree shapes. They had trunks that you could see, and leaves on top. And they cast tree-like shadows. Here, trees cast eerie pointy shadows, and you can't see their trunks because of all the random plants. There's a rocky sort of wall on one of the drives I do regularly that's covered in these things that are like ferns crossed with palm trees. They all stick their heads up across the wall, one on top of the other, as if they're looking at you. And they're invading our back yard, too. They grow through the cracks in the fence, where the lawn mower can't reach, and laugh at you from underneath rocks, where we don't mow. I'm sort of worried for the vegetables in the garden, too, because these plants are lured by the nice soil (instead of mud) and I can't cut them down for fear of hurting the cucumbers. They're big, too. They have thick green stalks (trunks? nah . . .) and some are taller than me. And it doesn't matter that I'm short. They're still big.

And that's my I'm not in Chicago any more rant. (I'd say something about the insects, but my computer is needed for an important cause . . .)
