Snow!

The day I arrived in cold but snow-less Boston, it snowed in San Francisco. At C-'s family's place, it dusted a bit of snow on a couple of nights. It was beautiful, but I didn't get a chance to go out into it. Now I'm up in Maine, and it has finally, seriously snowed.

We walked out into the gusty snowy rainy weather yesterday. The ground was all slushy puddles. Luckily, I had C- with me. I just hopped on his back, and he carried me over! Nevertheless, my hiking boots got completely water-logged. Luckily I was wearing wool socks.

Basically, we walked out the door, and into the nearest outdoor gear shop. I got some nice waterproof mittens, some more wool socks, and some shoe waterproofing stuff. Plus the lady behind the counter was super nice, and we talked about how happy we were that it finally snowed.

Now I'm sitting at a coffee shop, eating a s'more cupcake. It's got roasted marshmallow on top! Out the window, there's a beautiful (non-slushy) layer of snow. The only thing missing is the roaring fire. It's pretty wonderful.

We're up in Maine on a brief hiatus from the Christmas Activities down in Massachusetts. It was so crazy down there, what with cookie eating and present opening and such that I hardly got any work done.

Now I finally have a chance to get stuff done. I've got my internet and my cappuccino. They were playing an acoustic version of Postal Service songs just now. The barrista and some other people are playing the board game version of words with friends at the table next to me. Everything is in place. All I have to do now if figure out the math . . .
