Pants!

I'm making pants again! I took a trip to the fabric shop, and somehow walked out with far more fabric than I intended. So now I've gotta sew it all up.

I'd spent so long at the store looking at different fabrics that I was too tired at the end to buy something to make pockets with. Now, the fabric store is rather far from home. So I've been exploring other options. Whole Foods sells reusable bulk food bags printed with a bulk-chic Whole Foods logo. I could have had brand name trousers! But the bags were too small. CVS had cheap t-shirts, but they were stretchy. You don't want stretchy pockets. They'd wrap themselves around whatever you put inside, and gobble it up. Finally, I settled on pillowcases from a dollar store. They're pre-sewn with corners, too, so it's less work for me!

It's been so long since I've actually sewn anything. A couple of years, I think. I'm currently wearing the shorts I made last time. I messed up, so they have, erm, artsy diagonal leg holes.

For my day job, I study the concept of pants in the abstract. I spend my days imagining sewing pairs of pants together, thinking about draw curves on them . . . It's refreshing to put scissors to cloth and finally do something with my hands!
