I had the most delicious dinner last night. Bought a steak, decided to broil it. The interwebs told me to put it right up next to the broiler coil. So into a roasting pan and under the broiler it goes!
4 minutes later, it's time to flip the steak. I open up the oven, and it's all on fire! It's smokey in there, but we blow on it, and the fire goes out. Right according to plan, our steak is now perfectly done on one side.
Of course, the smoke detector complained, so we had a merry couple of minutes running around to open all the windows and dispel all the smoke.
Flip steak over, and back in it goes. Well, we wussed out. We put it back onto a slightly lower rack, so it did not conflagrate the second time 'round.
But man, was it delicious! Well, ok. It was also from grass-fed beef, which is verifiably more yummy than the other kind. (Unlike free range chicken, which I don't find to be more delicious than normal. But that's a discussion for another time.) So yeah, oven- grilled dinner. Sooo exciting.
p.s. please note that no thing and no one was harmed in the cooking process.
So that's the update. Coming up: MEGA- Thanksgiving. But will there be fire?
