Three in a row

Friday, I learned that I would finally have to learn Tex. If you've seen me resist tex bitterly in the past, you might be amused that I have at least ten pages of stuff to tex up. If you don't know what tex is, then, tex, pronounced "tek", is a thing that turns ugly things like this:

\vert A \vert_D &\geq \max_{x \in A} |x| \hbox{ et} \\
\vert A \vert_D &= \max_{y,z \in A} d(y,z) \\
&\leq \max_{y,z \in A} \max \{d(y,0), d(0,z)\} \\
&= \max_{x \in A} |x| \\
\hbox{donc, } \vert A \vert_D &= \max_{x \in A} |x|

into pretty things that look like typed up math homework your professor might have given you. Right now, things are going at about one page a day . . .

Then, I ran off to Grenoble, and went skiing. See the facebook album. It was awesome. Also, while in Grenoble, we went to the Christmas market. There was a stand there with a bunch of wooden puzzles. They were the kind made of wood and rope, where you had to untangle things. One puzzle was this wine bottle that was trapped in this wood thing, and if you untangled it, you got a glass of wine. The friend I was with figured it out. The wine wasn't half bad, either.

Also at the market, were these beautiful gelatanous looking cakes made of all sorts of fruit. They made me really hungry until I found out they were actually soap.

And there were restaurant stands, and all sorts of other wonderful things.

And Monday, I get back with wind burn on my chin (the first day of skiing was very windy, especially higher up), and rush off to the lights festival. Which is also up on Facebook. That was surreally cool. It was cold, and there were vin chaud stands everywhere, and lights and all sorts of things. But yeah, you should see the pictures.

So, three things in a row. That, plus a roommate whose family is Italian, and who makes delicious Alfredo sauce, and feeds me. Life is good.

Tex gets easier the more you do it. Hope it's going well for you. :o)
